How Etsy search actually works
Etsy matches shoppers to listings mostly on your title and 13 tags. The closer those are to the exact phrases buyers type, the more often you show up. Two rules most sellers get wrong:
- Use all 13 tags, and use multi-word phrases. "soy candle" beats "candle" — long-tail phrases have less competition and match real searches. Each tag can be up to 20 characters.
- Front-load your title with what it is. Lead with the strongest search phrase, then add descriptors. Titles can run to 140 characters, but the first few words matter most.
What this tool does
It reads your title and description, then rewrites the title around the phrase buyers are most likely to search, generates 13 distinct tags within Etsy's 20-character limit, and lists the underlying keywords so you can weave them into your description too. Everything's copy-paste ready.
Suggestions are a starting point, not a guarantee — Etsy search also weighs listing quality, recency, and shopper behavior. Review each tag before you publish.
